Hospital admission process
Step 1: Pre-operation assessment
The following tests are required to assess the patient's fitness for surgery:
-
Pre-operative blood test (CBC, BUN, Serum creatinine, blood sugar, HIV, HBSAG, HCV, blood group, INR, APTT)
-
Chest X-ray
-
ECG scan
-
2-D Echo
These tests are commonly done for fit patients as per the doctor’s recommendation, and patients who are elderly and unwell may require additional investigations. An additional medical opinion from a physician or cardiologist etc. may also be taken to determine the patient's fitness and risk for the surgery.

Step 2: Book a hospital room
To book a hospital room, please contact the registration department/admissions department/CMO of the hospital. This can be facilitated through the clinic staff. Hospital charges will vary according to the type of the room.

The patient will be asked to pay a deposit on admission, and further deposits depending on the type of surgery and total estimated cost prior to surgery.

Step 3: Insurance
Patients can either get pre-authorisation for cashless service, or seek reimbursement after paying the hospital bill in full.

For pre-authorisation, the following documents are required:
-
Insurance policy documents
-
Aadhaar card
-
Doctor's consultation paper
-
Printed report of X-ray, MRI
-
Previous consultation records from other doctors, hospitals
-
Deposit money
These documents are usually submitted through the TPA desk of the hospital to the insurance company. After scrutiny and satisfying the queries, an initial sanction is granted (usually ~40% of the estimated amount). After the surgery and at time of discharge, the insurance company settles the bill with the hospital according to rules and regulation. Patients need to be prepared to pay the amount which has been disallowed by the insurance company. This varies from case to case and with different insurance companies.
For reimbursement:
The patient needs to fill out a separate claim form and submit it to the insurance company along with all the documents and receipts of the treatment episode.
